What does burstable mean?

Most providers are giving a “burstable to” figure when quoting their price for their internet connection. For example they may offer a speed “burstable to 256kbps”. In effect this is a theoretical figure, reflecting the capability of their service at optimal conditions. Burst as we know means “explode”, well let us assure you that the explosive speed of internet can only be expected when your fellow clients are fast asleep and you are “alone” on the net.

Do not be fooled by such figures. Ask your provider for a test. There are many simple means of checking the speed of your connection at any time, on utilities sites and free downloads on the internet.

We do not quote burstable speeds. We give you a bandwidth that you can rely on as a minimum, so that you can enjoy the true features of real broadband, at all times. That is what you are paying for.
